About Marchildon

Marchildon's story is rooted in a Québec family tradition of footwear and orthopedic appliances. Through customers of his shoe store, Pierre Marchildon recognized a growing need for specialized orthotic care that no one was providing locally.

With no training available in Québec at the time, he travelled to Chicago, where he studied at an institute affiliated with Northwestern University and specialized in foot orthotics and orthopedic shoes.

On returning to Québec, he transformed the family business into Laboratoire Pierre Marchildon.

For more than 60 years, the laboratory has served both children and adults with unmatched expertise. Pierre Marchildon built an integrated model where, under one roof, patients have access to biomechanical analysis, casting, orthotic fabrication, adjustments, and both prefabricated and custom orthopedic footwear.

A respected mentor, Pierre Marchildon also helped shape the careers of many orthotists who began their journey at his clinic. For many years, his two children, Jean-Pierre and Sylvie, ran the business alongside him.

In June 2018, Pierre Marchildon and his children transferred ownership to Hélène and Marc-André Bisson, who remain the owners today. The Bissons had owned Laboratoire Pouliot since August 2001, bringing together two of Québec's leading names in orthotics, orthopedic shoes, and custom footwear.

Since taking over, Marchildon has expanded its offering with compression garments and small appliances, and added exclusive ready-to-wear shoe collections alongside the existing Marchildon footwear line.

Established for many years on boulevard Saint-Laurent in Montréal, Marchildon chaussures et orthèses remains a cornerstone of foot orthotics, custom and ready-to-wear shoes, and compression wear.
