Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions can be treated with foot orthotics?
Custom foot orthotics can treat many conditions including plantar fasciitis, bunions (hallux valgus), flat feet, high arched feet, heel spurs, metatarsalgia, Morton's neuroma, Achilles tendonitis, foot arthritis and hammer toe.
Do I need a prescription to see an orthotist?
You can see an orthotist without a prescription for an assessment. However, a medical prescription is required to obtain reimbursement through RAMQ, CNESST or SAAQ.
How do I know if I need foot orthotics?
If you experience recurring pain in your feet, knees or back, if you have visible deformities like flat feet or bunions, or if you work standing for long hours, an assessment by a orthotist can determine whether orthotics are indicated.
Are foot orthotics covered by insurance?
Yes, custom foot orthotics are covered by RAMQ (with prescription), CNESST, SAAQ and most private insurance plans. Our team assists you with reimbursement procedures.
How long does it take to adjust to foot orthotics?
The adjustment period is generally 2 to 4 weeks. We recommend wearing the orthotics progressively, starting with a few hours per day, then gradually increasing the duration.
